curly top

Photo courtesy of Aunt Jen, who is visiting.  Alden took Nine-nine out to breakfast with us.

mud!

Not sure exactly what the activity was here, these shots came from school.  I particularly enjoyed the last one, he looks like an experimental artist.

KT and the Bluegrass Band!

We have met our neighbor, KT, several times while we're out walking and she is sitting on her porch playing her banjo.  Alden took an immediate liking to her after she let him play her ukulele (I definitely just had to look up how to spell that word).  Last night her whole band came over to practice on our porch, and we totally benefitted with a free concert!  Thanks, KT and friends!  You guys were great!

mud puddle

Taking full advantage of a beautiful weekend, an at-home Carl, and a belly that is not yet too big, we embarked on a multi-hour bike ride today, stopping off at the park so that Alden could cool off in this giant mud puddle.  He needed a full body rinse off before we could proceed with our ride.

Go West, Young Man!

The Big Sky State turns out to be pretty photogenic, so some (actually, many) shots from the trip are here:

4th of July Dance

Just returned from a summer trip to Montana with JY and Lena to our old friends Matt and Brittany's wedding.  Among other highlights, the parade in Big Fork on the 4th of July was quite an experience.  The town is only 1500 people, with a couple blocks of main street, but people travel from 3 hours away to catch this (1.5 hour) event, complete with streaking fighter jets, full snickers bars and freezy pops being thrown at the crowd, and lots of whole-hearted anti-democrat sentiment.

Alden celebrated the flower-pot-drum-line with his own shadow-oriented dance, captured here.  Enjoy:
