Alden was seriously impressed with this rendition of Itsy Bitsy Spider from the future.

front yard

We had some requests from relatives for some uninterrupted minutes of footage of the bear- which has been hard to get recently with his fixation on taking electronic equipment from us. But here is 4 minutes from the front lawn -- nothing objectively exciting -- but two of his most favorite activities now - kicking the soccer ball and (attempting) stairs.

Orcas Island

Thanks to the generosity of Heather and Ron, we enjoyed a wonderful long weekend on Orcas, living in luxury and soaking up every moment of it. We saw almost no one else the whole time, and ventured into civilization (well, Doe Bay, the Earthy "resort" 15 minutes away) only once for breakfast. Our days were spent walking, playing on the enormous deck overlooking the sound and mountains of Canada, cooking meals together, and playing with all of Grayson's toys. Thank you, Rosenbergs! The few shots above and below reflect our trip -- mainly photos of us enjoying each other's company in a beautiful place. Oh, how will will miss the Nortwest, come June...

Methow Valley Ski Trip

We spent the week between Christmas and New Year's in Twisp, Washington -- cross country skiing kingdom of the northwest (and possibly the country). Our group included Grandma Lois, two Martin brothers and their ladies, Mr. and Mrs. Martin, and our family of three. Alden went on his first skiing trips with dad (though he peacefully slept through them), we enjoyed many wonderful meals and loads of delicious drinks, and we rang in the new year before a giant fireplace (the doors of which we had literally blown off the night before when Peter Martin made the fire too big). Happy New Year! Here are a few shots, whittled down from the many.
