In order to get anything accomplished around here lately, we've been encouraging Alden to play a bit more independently on occasion. The other evening, for example, Carl suggested that he pack up his lunchbox with something. Alden dutifully went to the fridge and proceeded to pull out everything in the fruit drawer one item at a time and put it into his box. Then he disappeared into the living room. When we checked on him next, he stated that he was "having a picnic."
