Tired Family

We are feeling a bit behind on our blog these days, but perhaps this photo gives some evidence of what's been going on around here. We are wiped! Carl is up and running with 13 straight days of work and no days off until next Saturday, but today he managed to sneak in a quick snooze with Alden between calls. Looking forward to the Feldman grandparents arrival this coming week...

the last year

Today, I return to the world of (really) long hospital hours. There will be an immediate reduction in leisurely breakfasts, Curious George, sandboxes, and overall time spent in sweatpants. This was an incredible year, in particular, to watch Alden grow up - from a calm chubby infant, to an easy-going, social, observant, active toddler. He's a pretty awesome kid (i'm biased though).

As well, there will be a reduction in time with Elizabeth. She has gracioualy agreed to takeover the vast majority of Alden care (as well as start a new academic job). I also got to watch Elizabeth comfortably fall into the spot of toddler mom --warm and watchful and fun, often producing giggling to the point of hiccups.

I will miss the extra time with these two creatures incredibly, but am happy thinking about the family scaffold we have started. . .
